Hey,
I'm looking for web sites and any information related to censorship in movies. I'm writing my Senior Project paper on this subject....and the web sites are more difficult than you would think.
Any ideas?

If you do a search with the phrase "censorship in movies"...either with search Engine 54 (located on the affiliates page of Hostboard, just click on the highlighted word affiliates located just above the main page topics), or you can use google.com.
Although by using Engine 54 you help Hostboard cover it's costs, (there's no direct cost to use search engine 54.)
You should find some good resources.

You could maybe also mention in your paper how Blockbuster video offers edited versions of movies...check Home Theater Forum.com, and enter in "Blockbuster censor" in the search function..if you're interested in doing so. mikeyb

That reminds me Mikey B. There was a religious group, or a member of a religious group, perhaps the mormons, who owned a video rental store and was editing out the violence and sex scenes from major motion pictures.
In essence creating a "G" movie version from an "R" rated movie. I thought the studios were suing them and it may have already gone to court.
I never did hear what the outcome was.

Thanks guys.
I actually changed my topic for the paper today. It went from Censorship in movies, to the life of Steven Speilberg. There is a lot more infor out there on him. Very interesting stuff. He started off with a Kodak 8mm, and filmed his family at home and on camping trips. He became known by his sister as "The director from **** ".

Here is a link to Hollywood and censorship:

If you search for "the code," you'd have probably had better luck. The Code, was a way of censoring Hollywood. Hollywood considered and followed the code for a while because their films were literally being cut up by local government deciding what is fit for public viewing. It's been a few years, but that's what I remember from College. Personally I would opt for censorship over Steven. That's just me.
Good luck
